Abstract

We report a 81-years-old female tetanus patient first presenting like acute dystonia. She was first admitted to the neurology clinic and misdiagnosed as acute dystonia by the neurologist. When the disease progressed and intense painful local dystonic spasm continued she was examined by an infectious disease specialist. She was then hospitalized with the diagnosis of the tetanus. She died because of healthcare-associated pneumonia after 87 days of hospitalization. We report this case because presentation of tetanus might be atypical and it can be misdiagnosed if you do not suspect it.
