Author Guidelines

Type of Paper

Authors should determine the type of paper before submitting it and indicate the type of paper on the title page. This is because, depending on the type of paper, the rules to be followed, including formatting and word limits, change.

The categorization system is at the discretion of the Editor-in-Chief. Authors may be asked to change the article type at the request of the editor at any stage of submission, including after acceptance.

The following types of papers will be considered for publication.


Original Articles

Abstracts should not exceed 300 words and should be structured with the following subheadings: Objective, Methods, Results, and Conclusion.

It should contain at least 3 keywords.

The content of the "Main Points" title that should consist of an average of four items (as a separate file in word format).

The main text should be structured with the following subheadings: Introduction, Material and Methods, Results, Discussion, Limitations, Conclusions, Acknowledgments, References, and Figure Legends.

The main text should not exceed 3000 words, excluding the abstract, references, tables, and figure legends.

There should be a maximum of 50 references.

The double-blind peer review process will include the abstract, main text, tables, and figures.


Review

The abstract should not be longer than 300 words.

The abstract section of review articles should be structured with the following subheadings: Objective, Methods, Results, and Discussion.

It should contain at least 3 keywords.

The main text must be no more than 5000 words (excluding abstract, references, figure/table legends) and references should not exceed 100.

The total number of tables and figures should not exceed 10. The tables and figures should be uploaded to the submission system as separate files.

The double-blind peer review process will include the abstract, main text, tables, and figures.


Case Report

In the European Journal of Therapeutics, very interesting or rare cases can be published as Case Reports. Case reports are accepted only if they illustrate exceptional or extremely rare clinical experiences. Due to the limited number of publications determined for this category, it is recommended that you submit such articles as Letter to the Editor. For the instructions for Letter to the Editor, please see below.

The double-blind peer review process will include the abstract, main text, tables, and figures.


Letter to the Editor

The European Journal of Therapeutics encourages authors to write letters to the editor on all topics covered by the journal.

There is no abstract requirement for this type of manuscript. If authors prefer to include an abstract in the letter, they may include a short unstructured abstract of no more than 200 words.

It is recommended that a letter contains up to 10 references.

The letter recommends adding "Dear Editor" at the beginning of the main text and "Yours sincerely" at the end.

The double-blind peer review process will include the main text, tables, and figures.


Withdrawn

Articles accepted for publication and published in early view may be withdrawn in the following cases:

  • if incorrect data are found in the content of the article or in cases where the authors declare that the information, such as copyright infringement, plagiarism, ethics committee reports, etc., is misleading or incorrect.

The decision to remove the retracted article from publication will be made by the Editor in conjunction with the Editorial Board. The editors reserve the right to publish the article, depending on the degree of error in its content.

The withdrawn article will be linked to the published version, along with an explanation for its withdrawal.


Retraction Notice

Published articles, may be retraction if;

- In cases where the content of the article is found to be unreliable due to incorrect data, data manipulation as a result of incorrect calculation, unethical reports, etc.,

- In cases where it is complained/detected that information such as copyright infringement, plagiarism, ethics committee reports, etc. are misleading/incorrect in the authors' statements,

- Where findings are found to have been used without appropriate citation of previously published references, without justification and without disclosure to the Editors.

Retractions will be published as quickly as possible to minimize harmful effects.

 To request a retraction, please use the online request system or write a letter of explanation to the Editor at the contact address provided on the web page of the journal.

The Editor and Editorial Board will review the request and decide whether to publish a retraction.

The corresponding author submitting the request should provide a signed letter of application from all contributing authors.

The request for retraction includes a link to the retracted article and clearly identifies the sender and the reasons for the retraction.


Correction to

If errors found in a published article do not alter the direction or significance of the results, conclusions, or interpretations of the article, the text of the correction will be published. The correction text will be published promptly on a separate page, including clear information such as the full content of the corrected text/data and the date of correction. A link to the corrected article will be provided. The corrected version of the article will be published in both HTML and PDF formats. Citations should refer to the most recent version.


Erratum

An erratum will be published if typographical errors are found in a published article.

The erratum will be published promptly on a separate page, providing clear information such as the exact content of the corrected text/data and the date of correction. A link to the corrected article will be provided. The corrected version of the article will be published in both HTML and PDF formats. Citations should refer to the latest version.


Editorial (Only Editors Use)

Editorial articles can be published for the following purposes; 

To inform the journal's target audience, editorials are published by the journal's editorial board and/or editor-in-chief.

To provide interpretation and analysis of published articles. Authors of original research papers will have the right of reply in the same issue of publication.


Special Editorial (Only Editors Use)

Special Editorials are expert-authored opinion pieces that provide commentary, analysis, or evaluation on current scientific, educational, or professional developments. These articles are typically invited, but may also be submitted upon approval by the journal’s editorial board.


Reply by Authors

If an editorial has been published about their article, authors have the right to respond with an article of their own. Article content may be submitted in an unstructured format.


In memory of (Invited by EIC only)

Submissions will be accepted only if the Editorial Board invites them, based on pre-defined topics and writing/constructing rules. The Editorial Board will evaluate the submissions.


Book Review (Invited by EIC only)

Submissions will be accepted only if the Editorial Board invites them, based on pre-defined topics and writing/constructing rules. The Editorial Board will evaluate the submissions.

The manuscripts should be prepared in accordance with ICMJE-Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing, and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals (updated in April 2025 - https://www.icmje.org/recommendations/).
Authors are required to prepare manuscripts in accordance with the CONSORT guidelines for randomized research studies, STROBE guidelines for observational original research studies, STARD guidelines for studies on diagnostic accuracy, PRISMA guidelines for systematic reviews and meta-analysis, ARRIVE guidelines for experimental animal studies, and TREND guidelines for nonrandomized public behavior.

Manuscripts can only be submitted through the journal’s online manuscript submission and evaluation system, available at www.eurjther.com. Manuscripts submitted via any other medium will not be evaluated.

Manuscripts submitted to the journal will first go through a technical evaluation process where the editorial office staff will ensure that the manuscript has been prepared and submitted in accordance with the journal’s guidelines.

Submissions that do not conform to the journal’s guidelines will be returned to the submitting author with technical correction requests.

ICMJE Potential Conflict of Interest Disclosure Form (should be filled in by all contributing authors) during the initial submission.

Preparation of the Manuscript

Title page: A separate title page should be submitted with all submissions and this page should include:

The full title of the manuscript as well as a short title (running head) of no more than 50 characters,
Name(s), affiliations, and highest academic degree(s) of the author(s),
Add the 16-digit ORCID of the author(s)
Grant information and detailed information on the other sources of support,
Name, address, telephone (including the mobile phone number) and fax numbers, and email address of the corresponding author,
Acknowledgment of the individuals who contributed to the preparation of the manuscript but who do not fulfill the authorship criteria.

Main text

Place the title, abstract and keywords on the first page of the main text.
Organize the manuscript into four main headings: Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, and Discussion.
Limitations, drawbacks, and shortcomings of original articles should be mentioned in the Discussion section before the conclusion paragraph.
Then place the references and figure legends in the main text, respectively.
All references, tables, and figures should be referred to within the main text, and they should be numbered consecutively in the order they are referred to within the main text.
Define abbreviations at first mention in text and in each table and figure.
If a brand name is cited, supply the manufacturer's name and address (city and state/country).
DO NOT EMBED IMAGES or TABLES in the mail text.

Text Formatting

Manuscripts should be submitted in Word.
Use a normal, plain font (e.g., 12-point Times Roman, 1.5 line spacing and justified) for text.
Do not use field functions.
Use the automatic page numbering function to number the pages.
Do not use field functions.
Do not indent at the beginning of a line.
Save your file in docx format (Word 2013 or higher).

Abbreviations

Abbreviations should be defined at first mention and used consistently thereafter.

Tables

All tables are to be numbered using Arabic numerals.
Tables should always be cited in text in consecutive numerical order.
Each table must be uploaded as separate files (e.g. table 1, table 2 and table 3).

Figures

Figures must be saved at a resolution of at least 600 dpi.
Figures, graphics, and photographs should be submitted as separate files (in TIFF or JPEG format) through the submission system (e.g. figure 1, figure 2 and figure 3).
The files should not be embedded in a Word document or the main document.
Figures should not be embedded in the manuscript text file.
Figure legends should be listed at the end of the main document.
All acronyms and abbreviations used in the manuscript should be defined at first use, both in the abstract and in the main text.
The abbreviation should be provided in parentheses following the definition.


Authors are responsible for the accuracy of references.

References

In references, the names of all authors should be written. Usage of "et al" should not be preferred.

If available, please always include DOIs as full DOI links in your reference list.
(e.g. “https://doi.org/............”).

Use abbreviations for journal names. Journal titles should be abbreviated in accordance with the journal abbreviations in Index Medicus/ MEDLINE/PubMed.

Reference citations in the text should be numbered in square brackets.
Some examples:

Parent et al. [3] reported that ......

....... anxiety, depression, and a decrease in proprioception [5, 16-18].

 

Author-Suggested Reviewers

Authors are required to propose at least five reviewers when submitting their manuscripts.
It should be noted that there should be no conflict of interest between these proposed reviewers and the authors, and that these recommendations should comply with international ethical standards.
Recommended reviewers should have competence in the subject of the article.
The proposed reviewers must not have collaborated with the authors of the article in the last three years and must not be working in the same institution.

 

REVISIONS

When submitting a revised version of a paper, the author must submit a detailed “Response to the reviewers” that states point by point how each issue raised by the reviewers has been covered and where it can be found (each reviewer’s comment, followed by the author’s reply and line numbers where the changes have been made) as well as an annotated copy of the main document. Revised manuscripts must be submitted within 15 days from the date of the decision letter.

If the revised version of the manuscript is not submitted within the allocated time, the revision option may be canceled.

Accepted manuscripts are copy-edited for grammar, punctuation, and format. Once the publication process of a manuscript is completed, it is published online on the journal’s webpage as an ahead-of-print publication before it is included in its scheduled issue. A PDF proof of the accepted manuscript is sent to the corresponding author and their publication approval is requested within 2 days of their receipt of the proof.
