Abstract

Serum Beta 2 microglobulin levels in ankylosing spondylitis and disease activity Serum levels of beta 2 microglobulin were investigated in patients with ankylosing spondylitis by the use of microparticle enzyme immunoassay (MEIA) method. Patients were devided to two groups acording to their clinical activities. Serum beta 2 microglobulin levels in ankylosing spondilitis were not statistically different from the values of controls (p>0.05) and correlated with no variable investigated (serum fibriogen, ESR, Serum copper, CRP). Beta 2 microglobulin levels were not significating decreased in the B27 positive group with AS compared with the B27 negative group. In summary, serum beta 2 microglobulin levels seem not to be a good marker in the diagnosis of disease arid its activity of AS.
