Abstract

The “wandering spleen” is a rare condition due to extreme laxity or absence of ligaments that fi x the organ in its normal anatomical position. Rarely it can be symptomatic when there is torsion of splenic vascular. For preoperative diagnosis, a high index of suspicion is help ful. “Wandering spleen” should be borne in mind for patients presenting with a palpable intraabdominal mass causing acute abdominal symptoms. Ultrasonography and computerized tomography can confi rm the diagnosis. We present a case of torsion of a wandering spleen in a 7-year-old girl who underwent splenectomy.
