In this study, two different dosage regimens of alfentanil infusions had been applied. Two groups of 15 patients were studied. The hemodynamic responses (systolic, diastolic, mean arterial pressure and pulse) were investigated during operation. lnduction was with thiopentone 3-5 mg/kg. Thirty seconds later, group 1 received 7,5 microgram/kg/min alfentanil infusion, group 2 received 1 O microgram/kg/min lfentanil infusion during ten minutes. After ten minutes, dosages of alfentanil were decreased ratio of 90 %. This was continued until approximately 20 minutes before the end of surgery. Heart rate, mean arterial pressure, systolic and diastolic arterial pressure were recorded every three minutes throughout and compared with pre-induction control values. in two groups, the hemodynamic responses to intubation and surgical stimulation were not observed. in our study, alfentanil infusions have been found to give good cardiovascular stability.
