Abstract

The passage of an electrical current through the body, can cause skin lesions, system damages and death. Deaths from electrical injuries are usually accidental in spite of suicides by electricity have increased in recent years. Homicidal injuries by electricity are so rare. Death from electrical injury is usually instantaneous, but it may be delayed for several hours or days. The rapid form of death is due either to cardiac arrest or to respiratory arrest. But sometimes general body trauma or serious burns, accompanied electrical injury, may cause death. Between 1991-1994, there were 49 electrical injury death cases in Gaziantep City Center. in this study, 49 death cases were investigated according to sex, age, place and quality of case, localization of entrance and exit mark and cause of death.
