Abstract

Although CMV infections are seen worldwide, it is widespread in poor hygenic and economic populations. They are observed futh asymptomatic primary infections and reactivations of latent CMV virus. In the study, CMV IgG antibodies were detected by Elisa in 362 children at 0-16 years age group whose complaints were sore throat, fever and fatigue. Sera were taken from Ankara Univetsity Medical School, Department of Pediatrics and tested in Ankara University Medical School, Deparment of Microbiology and Clinical Microbiology Elisa Laboratory. Seropositivity rate was 325/362 (89.78%). Seropositivity rate was 91% in 6-10 years age group and 93% in 11-15 years age group. This finding could be explained by increase of seropositivity rate with age.
