Diagnosis of Rubella in the Childhood With Detection of IgM Antibodies

Permanent immunization against rubella virus develops both after natural infection with rubella virus and after active immunization, but reinfections can be occured. For that reason, it is necessary to determine the serologic profile of people.
In the study, 175 sera of the children taken from Ankara University Medical School, Department of Pediatrics were tested by Elisa to detect rubella IgM antibodies in Ankara University Medical School, Department of Microbiology and Clinical Microbiology Elisa Laboratory. Only 1 seropositive case was found among 175 cases(0.57 %). This finding indicates the high percentage of natural immunization and some of active immunization among children.
