Abstract

The dermatophytoses agents were searched in Gaziantep region, using conventional mycological methods.

Therefore, 195 hair, skin and nail samples taken from 152 patients (101 men and 51 women) were examined. 139 (71.28 %) of these samples gave direct microscopy positivity and 125 (64.10 %) samples gave positive culture results.

Ninety seven (77.6) of this 125 culture positive patients had dermatophyte, 23 ( 18.4 %) of them candida, and the remaining 5 (4 %) patients had both candida and dermatophyte. The distribution of 102 dermatophytes as follows; 70 (68.63 %) T.rubrum, 25 (24.51 %) T. mentagrophytes, 5 (4.90 %) E. floccosum, 1 (0.98 %) M. audouitii, and 1 (0.98 %) T. verrucosum.
