Familial mediterranean fever

Abstract

Familial mediterranean fever (FMF) is an autosomal recessive hereditary disease which prirnarily affects Jews, Turks, Arabs and Armenians. it is caracterized by recurrent attacks of fever, arthritis, peritonitis and pleuritis. Recently, the gene responsible tor FMF (MEFV) has been identifıed. This gene is encoding the protein pyrine and marenostrin which are responsible tor inhibiting the inflammatory attacks. in this paper, we explained recently development in FMF under the light of recent literature.
