Abstract

In this issue, we showed the role of trace elements in the diagnosis and treatment of infertility by detecting serum and semen Zn, Cu and Mg levels of infertile patients and the control group.

Elevated serum Zn levels of infertile patients was found statistically significant while serum Cu and Mg levels had no difference. But we believe that high serum Zn levels of infertile people may be due to nutritive factors. Semen trace element levels of infertile patients and the control group had no value as well. Control of semen collecting procedure by masturbation was difficult. In this respect, even the objective results of the sign will be susceptible. Thus, we believe that semen is not the proper material to cliagnose the trace element status of the body.

As a result, we found out seminal Jevels of trace elements are unnecessary parameters to determine idiopathic infertility.
