The serum placental isoferritin concentrations of 15 patients with preeclamptic toxemia were evaluated and compered with the level of 15 pregnant women in labor and placental isoferritin values of 10 pregnant woman at the third trimester. The mean values of toxemic patients were 6,6 ± 26 ng/ml compared with 50,87 ± 61 ng/ml in term deliveries, 80,2 ± 89.7 ng/ml in third trirnester of normal pregnancy. These results suggest that placental ferritin may be a useful marker in toxemia of pregnancy.
