Abstract

Serum samples of 120 HBsAg ( +) asymptomatic carries and 120 sera from blood donors and health care personnel having neither HBsAg nor Anti-HBs were tested for the presence of HDAg. in the first group, 19 of the carries were HDAg positive (% 15.83). In the other group 2 health care personnel were HDAg positive (% 1.66). Blood donors shold be screened for HDV even if they are HBsAg (-) and HBsAg (-) Hepatitis may be due to HDV since HDV can also cause hepatitis in the presence of any Hepadnavinıs other than HBV.
