Abstract

Our study has been carried on 90 pregnant women aged 20-40 years (30 pregnant women in each I.II.III. trimesters) and 30 healthy control group women. The levels of plasma lipid fractions and fasting blood sugar have been measured and compared in pregnant women and control group blood samples. Fasting blood sugar levels have regularly decreased and triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), HDL-Cholesterol(HDL-C), LDL-Cholesterol(LDL-C) and VLDLCholesterol( VLDL-C) levels have regularly increased, especially in the third trimester (p<0.005). The results of this study indicated that the levels of fasting blood sugar and lipid fractions have been affected by pregnancy.
