Abstract

Vein of Galen aneurysmal malformation (VGAM) is a rare congenital intracranial vascular malformation in children.  Dilatation of the vein of Galen is a common feature of the malformation. This malformation is a vascular lesion that might emerge with different clinical pictures in childhood and is difficult to extract with classical surgical methods due to its localization and hemodynamic structure. Major effects of the VGAM include heart failure, hydrocephaly, intracranial bleeding and vascular steal phenomenon. A four-year old girl is discussed in this case presentation in the light of literature, who presented with macrocephaly and was diagnosed with vein of Galen aneurysmal malformation.
